Filing a Complaint About a

Licensed Child Care Provider

Colorado Division of Child Care Services

To file a complaint regarding possible child abuse by a caregiver call your local police department or Department of Social Services.

Call the Division of Child Care Services (303-866-5958 or 1-800-799-5876) for help with the following:

© complain about the care your child has received,

© report someone who is doing illegal, unlicensed care, and

© find out if anyone has filed a previous complaint against either a home or child care center.  You will need to call ahead (at least 72 hours) to see those records and then go in person in the Denver office to read the files; information can not be given over the phone.

If you wish to comment on the regulations themselves, or on the process you must go through to see a provider’s file, contact  your state congressperson and representative.  There are several organizations that are working to improve laws regarding the quality of child care; for more information call Northeast Colorado Child Care Resource and Referral.
